Ok, this is about to be possibly the most random entry ever. Football season is almost here. This means I need to register for hours and figure out the new ticket system ASAP, as I can't afford the student ticket package you can now buy. As for the rest of the new system, general admission, WTF? There goes an extra two hours of game day and ever seeing skull session again. Fortunately, we have several night games early, starting with Miami, which is why the ticket urgency. I have no idea why that game is Labor Day again, way too much stress. I miss mid-October, that'd be the perfect wedding decompression, but no. Instead, I get a bachelorette party in Atlanta and game day in Tally in 48 hours, with Sara in town Sunday, genius planning I tell ya.

However, the start of football season also gives me a target for finishing my thesis, as Matt, a Miami fan from my AOL board days, asked to read it when he IM'd me last night. Holy blast from the past hadn't heard from him since February and probably not more than twice in the last year, both short e-mails. He's married now and a dad, the latter of which is so surreal I don't even know where to start. Was just thinking the other day how much I miss him. I need some balance in my football discussions as Tyler has worse garnet and gold goggles than I do.

I may have just found that balance though, in the form of an interested admirer from an online dating site. We first messaged and talked about two months ago, as his profile picture was him sitting in The Swamp, but he lives in Tally and is not an FSU student. Turns out, he's a Gator fan, but dating the enemy could be intriguing, especially since he wants to go to an FSU game with me. He'll see another side to me, that only a handful of friends know exists. I told him we must me up before then though. And if I'm not in Gainesville for the Gator game, I will be watching it with him, whether he likes it or not. He told me he likes watching Gator games alone because he has a temper. He shouldn't have done that...

The Super Bowl results left me near tears and the beginning of this NFL season has begun the same way. Tom Brady's out for the year, which makes Brett Favre's move to the Jets look genius, as he's the best QB in the division now. Despite the talk about many Super Bowl losers not even making the playoffs the next year, I didn't believe it about the Pats, but now I'm not so sure. Add to this the Colts losing to the Bears and I'm wondering if a power shift is looming, that I don't want. Here's hoping the Pats can make the playoffs without the reigning MVP.

On a better note, FSU scored 69 points against Western Carolina! That's the most I've seen them score as a student. And while you might say it's Western Carolina, we've had poor showings against supposed patsies before, UAB and Troy come to mind of late. It was nice to have a game where pass and run yards were about equal and have a starting quarterback who doesn't do stupid stuff. We had no turnovers, and very few penalties, which is a step in the right direction. Christian Ponder and D'Vontray Richardson could make an interesting tandem, if Jimbo decides to go that way, as Richardson runs more than Ponder, while Ponder is a pocket QB. However, this game was a pain, as we had two hours of lightning delays, and who knows what Ike will bring this weekend.

Ok, before I talk about my Internet craziness, I should state this happened last Friday and I stewed about it until Tuesday, when I talked to my dad.

I post on the CourtTV board, but a new case has become too hot to handle. I was called a heartless and soulless troll who has no friends while discussing the Michael Vick case last week. Apparently NFL fans who aren't fond of dogs weren't welcome in this discussion. They were even accusing me of allowing children to remain in the company of pedophiles because apparently dog fighting and pedophilia are the same thing. I disagree, animals and humans aren't the same thing when it comes to crime. And before y'all shoot me, I abhor the PMU mare situation and horses that are killed by racing, but after incidents as a kid, I don't have the same feeling for dogs. Add to this that the computer on which I was posting wasn't working and the fact that I only went to that thread to post news, and I was stressed, but crying while I worked would've been wrong. I just wish some people would remember that there is a person behind each computer screen. That's my one request.
